Association of Study Aids/Strategies Assessors.
What if I need more help during the course?
The Study Aids and Study Strategies should identify any support you need throughout your course. If you begin to realise you need more help, the first thing to do is to check that it wasn't already recommended in your original report and agreed by your funding authority. If so, you could contact your disability officer and/or funding body for advice on arranging this support.
Sometimes it's difficult for all the problems you might encounter while studying to be anticipated in the assessment report. If you do encounter problems that weren't addressed in your assessment you should try contacting your disability officer for advice. The disability officer might contact the assessment centre on your behalf or might even write directly to your funding body.
If the help you need is relatively straightforward, the funding body might just agree to pay for it on the basis of the recommendations of your disability officer.
However, if you are asking for more help because your disability or course has changed, could be invited to undergo a 'top up' assessment. This might be a good idea as there could be other items of equipment or support you aren't aware of that could help.
